Think paper confetti’s a cliché? There are alternatives …
Confetti is considered a tradition at most weddings, but if you want to be a bit different and avoid the colourful mess, Mrs Magpie has found some fashionable alternatives
By Laura Terry
Lavender Confetti: An old favourite, that’s both eco friendly and fragrant. We reckon this could be the confetti of the future, in fact. Made from 100% pure lavender buds; it’s completely bio-degradable and smells utterly gorgeous. Lavender Confetti £2.50 per pack, Not on the High Street
Bubbles: For zero mess and lots of fun, why not opt for bubbles on your wedding day? Fast becoming a cult favourite for brides all over the world, this is a great way for everyone young and old to get involved in the wedding and will look great on your photos! 24 pack of champagne bubbles, £9.99, UK Wedding Group
Rose petals: Elegant and a nice alternative to cheap confetti, opt for real rose petals if you want to be kind to the earth, or fake ones if you want to keep the costs down. Freeze-dried rose petals, £7.99 for half a litre, Daisy Gifts
And finally, you could consider bread: OK so perhaps it’s not the most conventional form of confetti, but it’s certainly the cheapest and the most popular with pigeons. We’re not exactly sure that brides would appreciate having crusts of bread thrown at them, but each to their own!
